28 weeks!!!

Another week has almost past by and here I am at 28 1/2 weeks pregnant. I will be 29 weeks on Saturday! I keep thinking of the things that I want to get done before her gets here, because time keeps flying by and before you know it, it will be time to meet our little man and be able to hold him in our arms.

I have been feeling pretty good this week. I had a rough day on Tuesday. I woke up with a really bad headache again and actually made me very sick at my stomach. Other than that I have felt really good.

I went back to the doctor this week to check on my sugar. I am now seeing two different doctors which keeps me busy. I went to see Dr. Fitzpatrick but was unable to meet him this visit because he was called out for a delivery, so I met with the Nurse Practitioner, who was super nice! We talked about my blood glucose readings over the past week and a half. She said that it all looked really good for the first week of watching all my carbs/sugars and I was only out of range 3 times, which she said was great. She also said they want to continue to monitor my fasting blood sugars that I take first thing every morning because they have been starting to creep up. She told me that if we start having trouble controlling it they could put me on meds, but she thought that I would be able to control it. They told me the risks of having gestational diabetes and after hearing all she had to say I do not know how anyone would not want to follow the diet. They told me that if they had to put me on the meds they would have me deliver at 38-39 weeks otherwise he will be here no later than my due date of November 14th because with gestational diabetes they will not let you go over your actual due date.

I was happy to see that my blood pressure was 110/60 and that I had gained about 1 1/2 pounds. I was afraid that I would lose weight since I have been watching everything I have been eating, but I was happy to see that I have not! I also have to fax or email my results once a week and see Dr. Fitzpatrick every two weeks from now on. Like I said, I was unable to meet Dr. Fitzpatrick this week but the Nurse Practitioner called me that afternoon and told me that he agreed that my numbers looked good. He also said that we will be checking the baby's weight in 4 weeks. I am excited about that and to see how much he weighs at 32 weeks!!

I see Dr. Cave on September 8th and then start seeing her every two weeks as well, so I will definitely stay busy the last few weeks before our little man makes his grand entrance.

Nick and I finished up the nursery last Saturday and it was so much fun!! I wanted to have the nursery complete so when I have my showers I can just put things away as we receive them. I still need to order a standing shelf to put some things on and I am looking for a glider to match as well to go in his room, but for the most part his room is finished and we are all just waiting on his arrival!! :)

Well here it is (as promised) Brayden's Nursery!!

Brayden continues to move around ALOT and he continues with those strong kicks! Sometimes it takes me breath away. He is more active at night between 8:00-10:00pm. I hope this does not mean he is going to be a night owl. :) If he is, mommy and daddy will tough it out. :) I was laying in bed the other night and I was laying on my left side. I told Nick that I felt like I was laying on him. He was all stretched out and you could feel his little foot in my side, and he wasn't budging. :) I love it! We are constantly watching him move in my belly and Nick pushs back so Brayden will push him back. We are so fascinated. We were watching Brayden roll around in my belly last night and Nick said "Just think...it will not be long before you can actually see him rolling around and kicking in person!" It is so crazy to think in about 2 months he will be here! I cannot wait!

Well, I have rambled on enough I guess...here are my 28 week photos:

I got a new Nikon camera for my birthday and I love it. I cannot wait to use it on Brayden!

I can definitely tell that I have got bigger in the past couple of weeks. I really noticed it today when I was getting ready for work. I can honestly say that I have LOVED being pregnant. I have been so blessed to have had such a great pregnancy so far and I thank God for that and all he has blessed us with. I just continue to pray that the rest of the time goes smoothly all the way through delivery.

Well I guess that is all for this week.

Love you all,
Nick, Amy and Brayden!

27 Weeks!!!

27 weeks and into my 3rd and FINAL trimester!! How exciting! Our little man will be here in about 12 weeks or less! Nick thinks he will be here earlier than 12 weeks! We cannot wait! We both continue to get bigger as the weeks pass by and I think that Brayden is getting stronger everyday. We can tell what little body parts he is pushing out now. At times my belly is lopsided because of the way he is laying. We can push on my belly and he pushes/kicks back! We love it. I love to sit and watch my belly move. It is totally amazing! He is still a very active baby. According to what I have read that he is starting to pack on the pounds and muscle tone is starting to develop.

My mom, step dad, and my brother came up last night to eat for my birthday. We all had a really good time. My brother also got to feel Brayden for the first time. He was pretty amazed. I am really glad that Josh was able to be in and was able to feel Brayden move. He seems really excited about becoming an uncle. :)

The other day I bought one of those Graco monitors that you can use to hear your baby's heartbeat just for fun. You can place it on my belly and hear him kick, hiccup and hear his heartbeat. Nick and I have heard his kicks and his heartbeat. I have not caught his hiccups yet, but he seems to be getting those pretty often. Nick and I were laying in bed the other night when Brayden got the hiccups. Nick was able to feel them and Nick said "awww....poor little guy! I hate having hiccups." It made me smile. I am sure they really don't bother him to much in there. :)
I still have been feeling pretty good besides the usual aches and pains here and there, but I definitely cannot complain. I am noticing that I am beginning to get tired a lot easier. Also I am starving ALL THE TIME! I had to change my diet and now I have to watch all my sugars/carbs due to the gestational diabetes. It is all worth it though. I have been doing really good so far. There are things that I crave and I know I cannot have it, so that is pretty hard. The dietitian told me that I can have about 210 carbs per day. I have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. I have been doing really good with that as well. I am constantly watching everything I am eating. My birthday is today and we are going out to eat tonight, but definitely no birthday cake for me this year. :( I told my mom and Nick that as soon as Brayden is born I want a REALLY good meal and CHOCOLATE CAKE!! Or Coldstone ice cream will do too! :) That is my only request.
I have to go to my pre-admission appointment on Monday. It seems so crazy!! Then on Tuesday I go back and see the dietitian. We will see how she thinks I have been doing.

Anyway...here are my 27 week belly shots!

I am hoping that Nick and I will be able to work on the nursery some this week and maybe have some photos next week. We were so busy this week that we did not have the chance. If so, I will have those for you next week. (no promises though) :) I guess that is all for now. Keep checking back for more updates!
Love you all,
Nick, Amy and Brayden

26 Weeks!!!

Here I am 26 weeks pregnant. Brayden will be here in no time. It is hard to believe that he will be here in about 13 weeks!! So Crazy! This pregnancy has flown by. I read that at 26 weeks his senses are becoming increasingly keen and his eyes are completely formed. He is also aware of light and darkness. I also heard that if you hold a flashlight against your belly he will turn his eyes in response to the light. I also read that he has more defined sleep and wake cycles. Well...I do not think that Brayden sleeps very often. He is a wild little man!! :) He loves to use mommy's belly as a punching bag. I love it! Sunday night, Nick and I was watching TV and Nick put his hand on my belly. Nick could not believe how active he was. Nick has felt him move a lot but this time he said that he was more active than usual. He was kicking his daddy like crazy! His kicks are definitely harder and you can see my belly move with each kick. Well, last night I was sitting on the couch and I pulled up my shirt and could see him rolling in my belly. He rolled and kicked around for a good 45 minutes and I guess he finally wore himself out. It was the neatest thing to watch my whole entire belly move.

This past Saturday Nick and I, along with my mom and my step dad Mike went to Nashville. We found Brayden several cute outfits. We both picked these out. I think he will look like a little man in these outfits! :) Here are the cute little outfits!

Of course, Nick picked these out. He loves shopping for his little man. Here are the things that Nick picked out....

We had a lot of fun and Brayden was really active that day as well. He positioned himself in my right side and was pushing his butt into my side. You could actually feel his little butt! :) He seems to like my right side because that is where he is most of the time. My mom got to see Brayden kicking in my belly that day!

Well, here are my 26 week photos:
Everyone keeps telling me how little I am. I have people tell me all the time that I do not look like I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and that I am all belly. I told them to keep telling me that for the next two months! LOL :)

On Monday, I took my 3 hour glucose test. I had to fast after midnight and be at the lab at 8am to have my blood drawn. After they drew my blood I had to drink the yummy drink again. Again, the drink did not really bother me. Then I had to wait an hour and have my blood drawn again, and again, and again every hour for 3 hours. Needless to say, I was drained by the time they were done and I was also STARVING and so thirsty because you cannot have a thing to eat or drink the entire time. After the last draw I left to go get lunch. On my way, I had a really weird feeling come over me and then I started sweating like crazy. I called my mom and she seem to think that my blood sugar dropped. I had a couple of pieces of chocolate and I started to feel a little better. I had never had that feeling before.

Well, today I had to call back at 9 am to find out my results.....and the results were that I FAILED!! :( When they told me my results my 1 hour was high 213 and it should have been 180, my 2 hour I failed by one point. My result was 156 and it should have been 155 and then my 3 hour was suppose to be 74 and was only 58. So it dropped low at the end so that explains why I was so sweaty and shaky. I told the nurse what happened to me after the test and she told me that I was right and that my blood sugar bottomed out after the test. I see the dietitian this Thursday to find out things I can eat to control my blood sugar and then I go back to see Dr. Cave in 4 weeks. When I went to the doctor last week she told me that I would come back to see her in 4 weeks and then start seeing her every two weeks!! I cannot believe that it is already almost time to start seeing her every two weeks. As fast as time is going by....we will meeting Brayden in no time!

Well I guess that is all for now. Nick and I have been working on Brayden's nursery and I should have pictures soon. He is in Kansas this week but will be on days next week. So hopefully we can get everything finished so I can post some pictures! I cannot wait!! Keep checking back for updates!!

Love you all!

25 Weeks and Doctor Update!!!

I am sorry I am late with posting this blog. Things have been pretty busy so I promise to catch up by tomorrow afternoon.

I know that I say this all the time, but man time is sure flying by! I am getting bigger as each week passes and I love it! :) I have felt pretty good this week besides being tired, which is to be expected. Nothing much has changed this week. Brayden is still as active as ever and his little kicks are getting stronger. Nick and I love to sit and watch Brayden move in my belly. He is also getting more active throughout the night.

Nick had a birthday this week. He turned 29 on Wednesday, next year he will be the big 3-0! :) I guess we will have to do something pretty special next year. He had a pretty good birthday I think. I made him a homemade cake for his birthday. It turned out pretty good for the first time I guess. Of course, I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked because I had my glucose test on Thursday and I didn't want to eat anything that was going to throw my sugar off.

On Thursday, I went for a check up and my glucose test. Nick could not go with me for the first time because it was late in the day and he works 2nds. I told him not to worry about it because it was just my glucose test and a check up. I did not want him to worry about trying to get off this time since he is going to day shift next week. He will be able to go with me to all of the rest of my appointments. Luckily, my mom was able to go with me to this appointment. I did not know how well I would take drinking the yummy drink so I wanted someone there with me just in case. I heard that some people do not do well with the drink. I did fine. It was not bad at all. It tasted like a sunkist. After the lab work, we seen the doctor. My weight and blood pressure was perfect. We heard his little heartbeat and I was measuring right at 26 weeks, which is right on target. Nick has been dying to know if we will have another ultrasound because he wants one so bad so I made sure to ask her. She told me that we will probably not have another ultrasound as long as everything continues to look great.

On Friday I got the dreaded call that I had failed my 1 hour glucose test. So that meant that I had to take the 3 hour test. We will find out those results tomorrow. I will post my 26 week blog with those results tomorrow. I also found out on Friday that I am anemic and that I need to start taking Iron as well.

Well I will not make you wait any longer. Here are my 25 weeks photos!!

I also wanted to post a picture of the highchair that my mother in law got for us. Nick had to set it up so we could get a picture.

We really like it! Let's hope Brayden does! :)
Well I guess that is all for now. Check back tomorrow for my 26 week update and the results of my glucose test.
Love you all,
Nick, Amy and Brayden
