Brayden Hunter Lynch has arrived!!!

As most of you all know Brayden Hunter Lynch has made his way into this world!! Our beautiful baby boy was born on November 3, 2009 at 2:09 p.m. weighing 7lbs 9oz and 20.5 inches long!!

He has already blessed us more than you will ever know. He has definitely changed our lives for the better. I look at him and wonder what I did before him and I can just sit and stare at him for hours. We are so blessed.

I want to keep this blog going so that all of our friends and family can watch him grow. I will not be posting every week, but I will make sure to post at least once a month so that everyone can learn about the important events and milestones that happen with Brayden and our new little family!! :) So make sure to check back every so often for updates!!

Well I will go back to November 3rd, the day that our whole world changed! :)
The morning of November 3rd we woke up and got ready to go to the hospital. We did not have to be there until 11am so I was pretty anxious that whole morning. My mom, dad and stepdad all came to the house before going to the hospital. I was not really that nervous that morning before leaving, but once I stepped foot in the car to go to the hospital I was instantly nervous. Nick and I made it to the hospital along with my family a little before 11am. They got me all checked in and immediately took me back to triage to prep me for the c-section. Nick and I went back while my family waited in the waiting area. Immediately after checking in they had me change into a gown and took me for an ultrasound just to see if Brayden has flipped into the correct position. Needless to say he had not. After the ultrasound they took me back to a room where they were waiting to start my IV, take my blood, clean my belly, hook me up to the monitors and put on those lovely compression socks. :) I was a little overwhelmed because I had several people in the room and each of them was doing something different to me. After they were finished a nurse came in and began asking me all types of questions. After she was finished my family was able to come in and wait with me. We just sat and talked as we waited and watched my contractions on the monitor. I could not believe how many contractions I was having and how strong they were becoming. I truly believe that I would have had Brayden within the week if they had not scheduled my c-section so early. After about an hour the nurses that would be with me during the surgery came in along with the anesthesiologist to fill me in on what will go on during the procedure. I have to admit that is when I started to get scared. They let me know everything they would do and told me that they would be back to get me in a few minutes after they hear from Dr. Cave. Just a few minutes passed and they came back and told me that Dr. Cave had a delivery and that I would be delayed just a few minutes. I think we only waited about 30 minutes or so and then they were back to get me. Nick had to stay behind and put on all of his gear and wait until they came to get him. Meanwhile, they took me on back to the O.R. and had me sit on the table. The anesthesiologist that I had was amazing. Also, I could not have asked for a better nurse that was there taking care of me throughout the c-section. Anyway, the anesthesiologist had me scoot all the way back on the table and lean over into the nurse. He told me that he was going to give me something in my IV to regulate my blood pressure. After he gave me the medicine in my IV he started pressing on my back to administer the spinal. While is was pressing on my back I started to feeling a little queasy and lightheaded and I told him. He said that he would slow down and reassured me that my heart rate and blood pressure was great. He started asking me questions about the baby and my family to get my mind off of everything. After I calmed down he gave me the numbing medicine in my back, which did not hurt near as bad as I though and before I knew it he had everything done and they were laying me back on the table. They got everything ready and washed off my belly and then Nick was allowed to come in to be with me. I had never be so happy to see him! :) Before we knew it our baby boy was born! After he was born I completely forgot about the c-section. I was just listening to him cry and I started to cry like a baby. It was the best experience of my life! While Dr. Cave was finishing up everything she said "Amy, your not going to believe this, but he had turned into position sometime between the ultrasound they did after we arrived and the section." She said that she did not know if it was the contractions that I was having that made him turn or if it was the spinal that relaxed everything and made him turn. But she also said that he was face up so we needed to do a c-section anyway. They also had to use a vacuum just to get him out because of the position he was in. Anyway, time seem to fly by and before I knew it I was being wheeled into the recovery room where I was able to hold Brayden for the first time!
He was perfect!! They continued to monitor me and Brayden for an hour. Then right before they took me to my room they told me that they were going to take Brayden to warm him up because his temp was not what they wanted it to be and he was also having trouble regulating his blood sugar, which was due to my gestational diabetes. They took Nick and I to our room and before long Brayden was able to join us.

Here are a few pictures from that wonderful day!!

This is the last photo of Nick and I leaving the house as a couple for the last time :)
