Off to visit the doctor and for those dreadful shots.......

On Thursday I took Brayden to the doctor for his 15 month check up.  Here is my little man before heading out to see the doctor.

He looks so BIG!!

Posing for the camera : )

At the doctor we got a great report but it was not an easy visit for Brayden.  I truly believe he knows where he is at and he knows what is going to happen already.  I say that because when we were first called back we were placed in a room and we have to strip down to a diaper to get his weight.  Well this time when I put him on the table to take his clothes off he was hanging on to me so tight and he was started to cry.  (He NEVER has done that before)  I got him to calm down and we headed down the hall to weigh him.

Brayden now weights 26 lbs 14 oz and is 32 inches long! He is in the 80 percentile for his weight and 78 percentile for his height! The doctor said that he is well proportioned and perfect for his age! He has not even gained a pound since his 12 month check up but he has grown 2.5 inches in height!! BIG BOY!!

After we weighed we went back to our room to measure his head and get his length and he wanted no part of it.  He was scared to death when I laid him on the table.  I think he remembers laying on the table last visit and getting his shots because he has never acted like that before.  He wanted nothing but his mommy.  After she got his measurements we waited for the doctor.  He came right in and Brayden was talking up a storm to him and was happy as could be.

We went over everything that Brayden is  up to these days.  He asked about his vocabulary, his sleeping, eating, etc.  He told me that Brayden was above average for his age and that his vocabulary is outstanding for his age.  GO BRAYDEN!!

Next, the doctor approached Brayden to look at his ears and listen to his chest and Brayden clung to me for dear life.  He was terrified that he was going to do something to him.  Finally the doctor took him and laid him on the table to check him over and the entire time Brayden was reaching for me.  BROKE MY HEART.  I love our doctor and he was so good with him.  He would talk to him and he even took the otoscope and would shine it on his toes, but Brayden didn't want any part of it.

After the examination the doctor handed him back to me and he put his little arms around my neck and cried and cried.  That is very unusual for Brayden.  While we waited for the nurse to come in to give him those dreaded shots he was so still and quiet.  Again, this is NOT like Brayden.  He normally wants to get down and run around and I have to hold him down to keep him in my lap.  :) Finally, the nurse came in and he jabbered to her just a little but he was still a little upset.  She talked to me about the shots he would be receiving and then I had to lay Brayden on the table while she administered the shots to him and this time was just as bad as the very first shots he had.  He cried and cried and yes I cried right along with him. He was already having a tough time and then those awful shots topped it off.  Bless his little heart.  It is so hard on a mommy to watch your little one in pain and there is nothing you can do about it.  It breaks my heart into a million pieces.

The nurse was great with him and even got him a toy to try and make it all better.  Needless to say I got him dressed, made our way to the checkout to make his next appointment and we headed to Toys R Us.  Mommy wanted to get Brayden a little something because he had such a bad day! We also stopped by the nearest McDonalds for some chicken nuggets as a treat as well. Top it off with some snuggle time and cartoons with mommy and it made everything all better....for the both of us!

Our next appointment he will receive shots but then he will not have to get any until he is 4 years old!!! YEAH!!!  NO MORE SHOTS!!!

Have a great weekend!!!
